چکیده

An internally heat integrated distillation column, HIDiC, offers the maximum energy saving potential for difficult and energy intensive separations, such as propylenepropane and the like, which are carried out in tray columns. A novel type of HIDiC was developed by TUDelft, namely a concentric distillation column in which a low pressure annular stripping section is configured around a high pressure rectifying section. Due to a large heat transfer duty requirement per tray, heat transfer panels are placed on the active area of the distillation tray. Experimental results are presented for both the overall heat transfer coefficient between stripping and rectifying section and the separation efficiency of an annular stripping section sieve tray equipped with heat transfer panels.

Experimental study of hydrodynamic characteristics of improved sieve tray with push valves

This paper addresses an experimental investigation in the hydrodynamic behavior of a modified slotted sieve tray. Slotted sieve tray (Push valve sieve tray) is a sieve tray that the push valves have been utilized on the tray deck to eliminate liquid gradients and non-uniformity of liquid distribution on the tray. The air-water system was used in an industrial scale experimental rig with an inte...

New Highspeed Mass-transfer Trays

The mass-transfer trays HighspeedTray, HighFlexiTray and SieveTray belong to a new generation of mass transfer trays that enable increase the capacity-efficiency profile and the flexibility of tray columns significantly. This increase is achieved by a special vapor and liquid distribution and contact systems installed on these trays and a combination of two different tray designs. These trays c...

The Overall Heat Transfer Characteristics of a Double Pipe Heat Exchanger: Comparison of Experimental Data with Predictions of Standard Correlations

The single-phase flow and thermal performance of a double pipe heat exchanger are examined by experimental methods. The working fluid is water at atmospheric pressure. Temperature measurements at the inlet and outlet of the two streams and also at an intermediate point half way between the inlet and outlet is made, using copper-constantan thermocouple wires. Mass flow rates for each stream are ...

Two Phase Heat Transfer Characteristics in a Vertical Small Diameter Tube at Sub Atmospheric Pressure

Two-phase heat transfer is experimentally examined through vertical small diameter tubes, D =1.45 and 2.8 mm using water under a pressure of 50 to 81 kPa and a natural circulation condition. The pool boiling correlation by Stephan-Abdelsalam and the thermosyphon boiling correlation by Imura, et al. predict the measured experimental data in the 2.8 mm tube with an error of -30%. A large heat tra...
